Reading comprehension

Mirela started with us in 2013 in Reception. She is making great progress in her reading comprehension. Mirela enjoys taking part in the Lexia reading programme and reads at home everyday. Mirela's favourite stories to share are by Roald Dahl. At home she is reading 'The Witches' with her mum, and they enjoy taking turns to read pages of the story. Her favourite part so far was when a boy got turned into a mouse! Our class story book is James and the Giant Peach, also by Roald Dahl. By reading everyday, and talking about the books she has shared, Mirela is becoming a fluent reader and developing her vocabulary. Well done, Mirela!

Achievement in gymnastics

Mia started with us in 2015. Since joining she has proven to be an excellent student that enjoys getting involved in school activities. During her time here Mia has been willing to help others and makes sure that everyone is involved in activities. In her lessons, Mia shows good skills in Maths and English; she shows a great imagination in her writing. Mia enjoys bringing in her success stories from outside of school and we all enjoy hearing about her amazing achievements. One of her recent achievements was a gold medal for her tumbling at the gymnastics final in 2015. Great work Mia!

Achievement in drama

Jamal joined the academy in 2012 and is a very valued member of his year group. He has made great progress in a variety of subjects this year including music and DT. His behaviour and attitude throughout the school are excellent. Jamal this year once again challenged himself by auditioning for a part in the school musical. Originally auditioning for a chorus part or acting part, and despite him feeling his audition was ‘dreadful,’ Jamal was successful in being cast as the guard of oz. Jamal was worried about performing a singing part, but he has already risen to this challenge by having practised in his own time. I hope Jamal continues his drama passion.

The Wizard of Oz production

Isobelle started with us in 2013. She is normally a shy person when it comes to performing, but auditioned for the part of the scarecrow in the Vale Academy production of The Wizard of Oz.  She was brilliant in her audition and really stood out, especially with her singing. Isobelle was so pleased that she got the part she was dancing around the classroom.  5CT look forward to seeing her and wish her all the best.
