Religious Studies

The aim for Religious Education (RE) at The Vale Academy is to develop children’s understanding and knowledge of religious beliefs and practices of the major six religions and non-religious world views. This gives the children the opportunity to explore their own personals values, and engage in moral debates- taking into consideration spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. At The Vale Academy staff promote a safe and non-judgemental environment.

The curriculum equips the children to build on their skills, knowledge and understanding of the subject year on year. During the lessons, the children are encouraged to demonstrate their curiosity through questioning and making connections between religious and non-religious beliefs. The children complete written tasks enabling them to implement British Values and have the opportunity to express their own beliefs and ideas.

Children begin to clearly and coherently articulate their personal beliefs, ideas, values and experiences while respecting the right of others to differ. All members of our school community promote the ideas of tolerance and understanding in all aspects of life and equipping them to play a vital role in their communities and embrace a modern and diverse world.
